Bayfront Charter High School is seeking a passionate and experienced construction professional to launch our new Construction pathway program. This is an exciting opportunity to build a program from the ground up, starting with one Construction 1 course and potentially growing over time as student interest and enrollment expand. The Part-Time Construction Teacher will teach one Construction 1 course using the Career Connections curriculum (https://wscareerconnections.org/curriculum/). This position is designed for someone with hands-on construction experience who is eager to inspire the next generation of skilled tradespeople and wants to transition their industry expertise into education. The ideal candidate will bring real-world knowledge, demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, and show commitment to developing a robust construction pathway that prepares students for college and career success in the trades.
Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the construction industry (carpentry, general construction, project management, or related field) Demonstrated hands-on expertise with construction tools, materials, techniques, and safety protocols Strong commitment to student success and ability to work effectively with high school-aged youth Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment for diverse learners Enthusiasm for building a new program and willingness to be flexible and innovative Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching practices, and supporting the needs of diverse learners Willingness to complete California CTE credential requirements while employed (for candidates who do not already hold a CTE credential) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California CTE credential in Building and Construction Trades Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience OSHA certifications or other relevant industry certifications Experience in project-based learning or hands-on instructional approaches Knowledge of California CTE standards and A-G course requirements Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) Connections to local construction industry partners or trade organizations Experience working in educational settings, particularly with high school students
