What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialized Assistant position at Mt. Mansfield UUSD?
Richmond Elementary School is seeking full-time, energetic and caring Specialized Assistant to work with elementary-aged students as a member of our Student Support team. The Specialized Assistant will provide a variety of supportive activities with a diverse population of students. These individuals must enjoy working as part of a creative and hard-working team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and foster a positive rapport with students and colleagues.
- Respond to student incidents and help students repair hurt or damaged relationships.
- Provide crisis prevention, de-escalation, and post-incident support using CPI techniques.
- Collect and maintain behavioral data as needed.
- Model behavior strategies and programming for school teams.
- Support short-term student stabilization or long-term intensive needs if needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Student Life Coordinator, other school staff, and administration.
What We’re Looking For
- High School diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years experience working with students.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
- Candidates must be reliable, have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand and/or walk for extended periods of time to support students.
