Qualifications
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with data-driven student support systems preferred.
Certifications
- State certification/licensure as a School Counselor.
- Valid Maine DOE background check, known as a CHRC
- Maine Fingerprinting & Background Check
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to Grade 9 students.
- Support students with academic planning, transition to high school, and goal setting.
- Coordinate and facilitate implementation of the Building Assets, Reducing Risks (BARR) Model.
- Lead regular BARR meetings with Grade 9 staff to review student progress and identify supports.
- Monitor student data including academics, attendance, and behavior to guide interventions.
- Communicate with families and collaborate with teachers and student support staff.
- Refer students to appropriate school or community resources when needed.
- Maintain counseling records and documentation in accordance with school policies.
Education
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.
Experience
- 2 years experience prefered
- 190 days - School year plus 10 days
- Travel between schools may be required at times
Reports To: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: Professional Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement
Evaluation: Completed annually Principal or their designee
FLSA Status: Exempt
