Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and productive operation of machining and assembly areas while ensuring production requirements are achieved in alignment with Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale (SQDCM) objectives.
This position provides direct leadership to hourly employees and serves as a frontline leader responsible for executing daily production plans, developing employees, resolving operational issues, and driving continuous improvement.
The Production Supervisor will ensure manufacturing processes operate safely, equipment is utilized effectively, quality standards are consistently met, and customer commitments are achieved. The successful candidate will promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, employee engagement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
The position works closely with Maintenance, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, Material Planning, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and UAW-represented employees to eliminate production barriers and improve overall operational performance.
Required Qualifications
- Leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, machining, assembly, or production environment.
- Strong understanding of machining and assembly processes.
- Experience leading hourly manufacturing employees.
- Experience managing production schedules, staffing, and operational priorities.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to interpret and utilize production, quality, labor, and performance metrics.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to coach, develop, and motivate employees.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, Human Resources, and Labor Relations.
- Proficiency with manufacturing systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with UAW-represented employees.
- Experience administering or interpreting a collective bargaining agreement.
- Experience in machining and/or assembly operations.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, PDCA, standardized work, and structured problem solving.
- Experience in a high-volume or complex manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing environment and requires regular presence on the production floor. The Production Supervisor must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, responding to operational issues, and interacting directly with hourly employees and cross-functional teams.
The role requires strong visibility on the production floor and the ability to respond effectively to safety, quality, equipment, staffing, and production issues.
Salary : $35 - $40
