As an Underwriter at MSIG USA, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and profitability of our Political Risk & Credit portfolio. This underwriting position focuses on evaluating and servicing a range of risks and exposures while developing strong broker relationships and contributing to customized insurance solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure underwriting excellence and client satisfaction.

As an Underwriter at MSIG USA, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and profitability of our Political Risk & Credit portfolio. This underwriting position focuses on evaluating and servicing a range of risks and exposures while developing strong broker relationships and contributing to customized insurance solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure underwriting excellence and client satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate and underwrite risks within assigned authority, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite
- Analyze submissions, financials, and loss histories to assess risk quality and pricing adequacy
- Apply appropriate rating methodologies and ensure compliance with regulatory filings and state requirements
- Draft and review policy forms, endorsements, and coverage terms tailored to client needs
- Maintain accurate and complete underwriting documentation in accordance with internal and external standards
- Monitor portfolio performance, including premium trends, loss ratios, and underwriting results
- Collaborate with brokers through meetings and account reviews to strengthen relationships and identify growth opportunities
- Partner with Risk Engineering, Claims, and Marketing teams to support retention and new business initiatives
- Contribute to special projects and team initiatives as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3-4 years of insurance industry experience preferred
- Prior experience as an Underwriting Assistant or Associate is a plus
- Basic understanding of insurance principles, policy forms, and regulatory frameworks a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective interpersonal and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal systems
