About the Role
We're looking for a National Account Manager – Mass Retail to lead and scale the national mass retail channel for one of our clients, a major consumer products manufacturer. This is a high-impact commercial role, partnering with distributors, cross-functional teams, and major retail customers to expand our client's footprint, accelerate distribution, and drive incremental growth across key channels and product lines. The ideal candidate thrives on strategic selling, building strong customer relationships, and executing sales programs flawlessly to maximize volume, revenue, market share, and profitability.
What You'll Do
- Own the commercial strategy and execution for assigned mass retail channels, driving distribution growth, sales performance, and profitable expansion across key accounts
- Lead day-to-day account management with distributor, cross-functional, and retail partners, keeping everyone aligned on objectives and execution priorities
- Identify and prioritize white space opportunities by channel, customer, and product, turning insights into actionable distribution, merchandising, and promotional plans
- Drive sales volume, revenue, and profitability through data-driven selling, customer-specific pricing and promotions, and disciplined trade investment management
- Partner with customers on category management and assortment strategy, delivering insight-driven business reviews that position you as a trusted category partner
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Field Sales, Marketing, Category Management, and Supply Chain to execute store resets, product launches, and in-store programs
- Build and present customized annual and quarterly business plans that align growth priorities with customer objectives
- Represent the client at national and regional trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings to build relationships and identify new growth opportunities
- Monitor execution quality and market feedback, adjusting plans proactively to close gaps and capture emerging opportunities
What You Bring
- 7 years of progressive Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sales experience
- Strong Walmart account experience, including familiarity with Walmart systems and processes, Scintilla data and analytics, Walmart Connect/Walmart.com platforms, and Joint Business Planning (JBP)
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment
- Valid driver's license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred
- Experience with Target or other mass retail customers is a plus
- Ability to travel up to 25%, including overnight stays, based on territory and customer needs
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 45 lbs, navigate warehouse and retail environments (including ladders and confined spaces), and sit/stand for extended periods
