Qualifications:
To qualify for the MARINE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST, GS-2150-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:- Experience working within the commercial ocean transportation industry in order to accomplish assignments (e.g. ship characteristics, port facilities and capabilities, ship capacities and capabilities, cargo loading, stow planning, securing of cargo, replenishment at sea);
- Experience determining the terms and conditions for shipping cargo;
- Experience scheduling and shipment of goods and ship logistic requirements, such as berths, bunkers, crane service, and computing costs for cargo shipment;
- Experience planning and/or directing cargo movements such as: coordinating, monitoring, and supporting dry cargo and tanker operations, cargo loading and discharge, embarkation and debarkation;
- Experience utilizing Coast Guard and other federal regulations pertaining to the merchant marine, and U.S. Navy fleet operating procedures and doctrine;
- Experience utilizing a variety of software programs including timeline/schedule, word processing, spreadsheet, database (MS Office Suite), Naval Message Format, and all other written communications.
