For its Cargo Division, today MSC is looking for a highly motivated Procurement Director to join its North America Regional Procurement Office
Position Overview
The Procurement Director, North America, is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing all procurement activities across the North American region (United States & Canada). Leading the Regional Procurement Office with reporting lines into MSC Corporate Procurement in Geneva (CH) and Local MSC U.S. Organization, this position ensures the effective and efficient management of the procurement lifecycle, drives value for the organization, and fosters strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. The role also champions best practices in procurement and provides leadership to a diverse team under direct responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Regional Procurement Leadership: Set and execute the strategic direction for procurement across North America, aligning with global and regional objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, business units, and cross-functional teams. Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, align goals, and deliver value.
- Process Optimization: Analyse, redesign, and optimize procurement processes to ensure cost efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation. Implement innovative procurement solutions, digital tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supplier Management: Oversee supplier selection, contract negotiations, and performance management. Foster strategic partnerships with key suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and innovation.
- Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Regional Procurement Office team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and build organizational capability.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Reporting & Analytics: Monitor and report on procurement performance, savings, and key metrics. Leverage data analytics to drive decision-making and measurable improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 10 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large, matrixed organization.
- Proven experience managing regional or global procurement operations.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, and supplier relationship management (SRM)
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performance teams.
- Proficiency in procurement technologies and ERP systems.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of driving process improvements and delivering results.
