Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or HiSET
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds and must be physically able to assist an injured student off the bus in an emergency.
- Must hold and maintain a valid license for the type of equipment to be driven
- Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record, checked through the state.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Must be approved by administration and Board of Directors
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board
Job Goal: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
Performance Responsibilities: Job duties may be different depending on the work site.
1. Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times.
2. Regulate heat and ventilation to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
3. Shovel and sand walks and steps as appropriate.
4. Sweep, mop and buff assigned spaces daily and dust furniture.
5. In assigned area, scrub and disinfect toilet floors, clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
6. In assigned area, wash all windows, inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary.
7. In assigned area, keep all floors in a clean, attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
8. Make such minor building repairs, as he/she is assigned.
9. Promptly report major repairs needed to the Building Administrator.
10. Immediately report any damage to school property to the Building Administrator.
11. Remain on the school premises during your entire work shift, including your paid breaks.
12. Assume responsibility for closing of the building each day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons are turned off.
13. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
14. Will be required to use lifting equipment, moving furniture tools, snow scoops, shovels and to
free lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
15 Follow proper safety procedures when operating equipment and comply with standard safety and OSHA regulations.
16. Maintain a regular schedule to ensure that daily responsibilities are performed, have regular attendance and be punctual for assignments.
17. Time cards: record the beginning of shift arrival time, lunch break departure and return times and the end of shift departure time on an ?as occurs? basis (when you do it, write it down).
18. Maintain the poise of a disciplined person. Be tactful in dealing with others; resourceful and self-reliant; demonstrate respect for self and others; willingly accept suggestions and follow instructions; follow the proper channels of command and exercise confidentiality of privileged information relating to school and personal matters.
19. Set a good personal example in the areas of personal hygiene, neatness and propriety of dress, courtesy, consideration, cooperation, and proper use of language. Vulgar or sexually suggestive language will not be permitted at any time.
20. All custodians hired will be required to drive school vans when assigned.
21. All other related duties as deemed necessary by the Building Administrator or Support Services Manager.
