Position: Director of Adult Education and Community Services (half time position)
Location: MSAD 11 and Winthrop Public Schools
Date Position Available: July 1, 2026
Certification Required: Candidate must hold State of Maine Certification, (066) Director of Adult and Community Education and current CHRC authorization through the State of Maine Department of Education. A Master's Degree completed or in progress is also required.
Job Goal: To coordinate and administer the Kennebec Neighbors Adult Education and Community Services program.
Qualifications: Kennebec Neighbors Adult Education and Community Services Programserving the MSAD 11, towns of Gardiner, Pittston, Randolph, and West Gardiner and the Winthrop Public Schools, is seeking a person who has successful experience working in a leadership role in education or business; Experience in budget development and preparation; Demonstrated ability to practice participatory management; Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong technology skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community members. Knowledge of effective administration of adult education and community services operations;
Adult Education Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, directs (oversees/approves), and evaluates all adult education programs and activities; Knowledge of the philosophy of and programming of adult level education; Knowledge of adult learning theory and effective instructional practices; Supervised instructional and support staff; Knowledge of adult education standards, curriculum, and assessment; Relates positively to the public and understands the importance of considering community needs and wants in regards to programming; Works collaboratively with educational, social services, and business partners; Writes and implements state and federal grants; and Develops and oversees annual budget.
Salary: $49,218.50 (.50 fte - Pro-rated based on $98,437)
