What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Technician position at MS Metal Solutions/Great Lakes Metal Stamping?
Responsibilities:
· Prepares press for die change-overs in accordance with procedures.
· Performs Job Setups in accordance with the Setup Checksheet, including shakers, chutes, clamps, and containers.
· Hang steel coils, and band steel coils as required.
· Effectively communicates with Supervisor
· Uses gages and other measuring instruments for the inspection of production stampings.
· Performs part inspections in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
· Produces conforming product by operating mechanical presses per procedures.
· Assists in solving downtime and quality issues that arise during production.
Observes all safety precautions and communicates all safety issues to Press Room Supervisor.
· Takes personal responsibility for constantly improving setup time and production practices.
· Authorities and responsibilities of this position are further defined in policies, procedures, and work instruction.
Qualifications·
Experience in metal stamping operations preferred
· Proficiency with basic measuring instruments and basic math skills
· Must have legible handwriting
· Basic ability to understand Control Plans and inspection instructions
· Ability to read part prints, including GD&T preferred
· Mechanical aptitude preferred
· Effective communication and interpersonal relations
· Ability to lift in excess of 25 pounds
· Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting and turning movements
