Job Title: Quality Control Section Manager

Our client, a Tier 1 automotive seating manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Quality Control Section Manager to lead plant quality operations within a fast-paced, high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a strategic quality leader with strong experience in production floor quality operations, quality systems management, customer quality, and APQP support.
The ideal candidate will lead a large cross-functional quality team supporting daily production quality decisions, line quality confirmation activities, quality compliance initiatives, and customer issue resolution. This role will oversee plant quality systems while partnering closely with production, engineering, and launch teams to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Candidates with strong leadership capabilities within IATF automotive environments and experience managing salaried and hourly quality teams are highly desired.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered.
● 5 years of progressive quality leadership experience within automotive manufacturing
● Previous Tier 1 automotive supplier experience required
● Strong background in production floor quality operations and manufacturing quality systems
● Experience managing teams within high-volume automotive manufacturing environments
● Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards
● Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and structured problem-solving methodologies
● Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action activities utilizing 8D, 5 Why, or similar methodologies
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or related technical field preferred
● Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Skills & Qualifications

● Automotive seating manufacturing experience strongly preferred
● Experience leading both salaried and hourly quality teams across multiple shifts
● Previous customer-facing quality experience with OEM customers
● Experience supporting APQP activities and new model launch coordination
● Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
● ASQ certification such as CQE or CQM preferred
● Experience within assembly, welding, foam, metal structure, or JIT automotive manufacturing environments
● Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Outline of primary job duties and expectations.
● Lead daily production floor quality operations and oversee plant quality performance across multiple shifts
● Manage a quality organization consisting of assistant managers, coordinators, team leaders, and technicians
● Support line quality decisions and manufacturing quality confirmation activities utilizing quality systems and production metrics
● Oversee plant quality systems, compliance activities, audits, and quality specification control for new model launches
● Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Launch teams to drive continuous improvement and quality performance initiatives
● Support APQP activities, customer launch requirements, and engineering changes with dedicated launch support personnel
● Maintain strong working relationships with OEM customers and support resolution of customer quality concerns and corrective actions
● Monitor and report key quality metrics including PPM, scrap, FTQ, customer complaints, and warranty concerns
Leadership Scope
This position provides leadership and oversight for a multi-level quality organization including:
● 1–2 Assistant Managers
● 3 Coordinators
● 6 Hourly Team Leaders
● 10 Hourly Quality Technicians across 2 shifts
This role is designed for a strategic people leader capable of developing teams, driving accountability, and supporting plant-wide quality initiatives while maintaining strong collaboration with manufacturing operations and customer quality groups.
Physical and Environment Requirements
Physical expectations and working conditions associated with the role may include standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods within a manufacturing environment. This position requires regular interaction on the production floor in a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Exposure to manufacturing noise, moving equipment, and varying plant temperatures is expected.
