Position Summary
The Loan Boarding Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely onboarding of new and renewed loans into the bank’s loan servicing platform (FIS IBS). This role ensures data integrity from close/fund through servicing setup, supports compliant loan administration, and completes required financial transactions tied to loan boarding. The ideal candidate is detail-driven, learns quickly in a complex system environment, and can independently problem-solve while following documented procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Review loan boarding packages to confirm all required documents are received, executed properly (signed/initialed), and organized in required stacking order for legal files.
Validate that loan documents align with credit approval terms; research and resolve discrepancies prior to boarding.
Input complete loan, commitment, and note details into the loan servicing system (FIS IBS or similar), following internal policies and procedures.
Verify key loan setup components (rates, payment terms, disbursement instructions, fees, and coding) and complete boarding worksheets or checklists to confirm accuracy.
Process monetary transactions required for onboarding, including disbursements, fees, and income account credits as applicable.
Support lien perfection and collateral documentation tracking across various collateral types.
Provide responsive customer service to internal partners (loan officers, branch staff, servicing teammates) and external customers by researching and resolving inquiries via phone, email, and in-person channels.
Maintain accurate, compliant loan records and support reporting requirements (including HMDA/CRA where applicable).
Qualifications
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in loan operations, loan boarding, loan servicing, loan processing, or a closely related banking function.
Education: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Skills/Attributes:
High attention to detail and strong data accuracy mindset.
Comfortable learning and navigating complex systems; FIS IBS experience is a strong plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document and follow procedures.
Independent problem-solving ability—can “figure things out” and handle variables in a process-driven environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving servicing environment.
