What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Field Service Technician position at MRCC?
A field tech who can act in a supervisory role if called upon. They know their way around a switch room and closet to identify potential issues with installing new Avaya equipment. Has the skill to run cross-connects and simple cabling between the equipment and the wall field in the switch room. Knows the inner connectivity of wiring between switch and endpoint—someone who has Avaya knowledge and can rack and stack servers and gateways.
The field service technician will provide basic technical support for the telecommunications systems through the assembly, installation, and testing of the telecommunications systems, including their equipment and peripherals.
The Field Service Technician must be able to work with customers, project managers, and senior engineers to build and prepare systems for field deployments. The Field Service Technician must have a general knowledge of the implementation of on-premises telecommunications systems across multiple manufacturers.

- Able to use network tracing (wire shark) and other troubleshooting tools to diagnose/troubleshoot end-point devices and peripheral issues.
- Ensures end-point systems are functioning and with optimal performance by testing equipment and connections and identifying and correcting any issues.
- Identifies proactively product/service sales opportunities at client sites and processes work order modifications as necessary
- Troubleshoots and supports 3rd party software and applications.
