Driver (Stake Bed)/Shipping & Receiving

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Shipping and Receiving Lead, load and unload trucks according to established procedures and shipping regulations and make deliveries and pick-ups; prepare orders for shipping.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DRIVER (50% of time)
• Company driver – 12 ft stake bed truck.
• Plan and complete an efficient delivery and/or pick up route.
o Confirm/schedule pick-up/drop off time with vendor/customer prior to leaving.
• Maintain basic records of truck mileage; record deliveries/pick-ups made.
• Ensure truck receives basic service according to maintenance schedule; report larger service needs and mechanical issues to Lead.
o Maintain a clean vehicle inside and out
WAREHOUSE
• Assist in general warehouse duties when delivery/pick-ups are completed.
o Pulling/ finding parts for jobs
o Keeping supplies stocked that are used weekly
• Help organize/maintain neat and orderly warehouse.
o Sweeping and taking out garbage
SHIPPING
• Assist in the processing of outgoing UPS shipments to the correct delivery or shipping destination.
• Carefully and accurately maintain shipping records.
• Verify and record all items loaded for shipments.
RECEIVING
• Receive and distribute incoming UPS shipments and other miscellaneous deliveries.
o Distribute to the appropriate person/department in a timely manner.
• Load/unload trucks.
• Receive goods and verify the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy. Check against suppliers’ count and immediately report discrepancies to Lead.
• Transport materials received with a hand truck or forklift as needed.
• Deliver product to the proper inventory location, department, or personnel.
• Report information to Lead on damage claims for in-transit damage.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Ability to drive safely.
• Must possess valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.
• Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
• Must be able to read and understand shipping paperwork
• Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
• Basic understanding of dock and warehouse procedures.
• Performs other duties as requested.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Job requires incumbent to be reliable, responsible, and dependable.
• Must be a certified Forklift driver or be able to become certified.
• Able to remain professional and courteous at all times.
Education and Experience Requirements
• Two years of shipping and receiving experience required;
• Must complete annual DOT exam with satisfactory results.
Physical Demands
• Regularly required to stand, walk, squat, stoop, bend, stretch, or reach above the shoulders.
• Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, and upper body while packing, unpacking, loading and unloading shipped goods.
• Must be able to work in and drive in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
• Frequently required to sit, talk and hear; requires dexterity of fingers to enter data into computer.
• Ability to regularly lift 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
