What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upholstery Apprentice / Shop Assistant position at Mr. Seamster Upholstery?
About Us, The Role & Your Earning Potential :
Mr. Seamster Upholstery is a rapidly expanding custom upholstery shop in Homosassa, FL. While we specialize heavily in marine interiors and commercial fleet rebuilds, our custom fabrication extends into aviation, motorsports, and golf carts. We are looking for someone who doesn't just want a job, but wants to get in on the ground floor and grow alongside our company.
The custom upholstery industry is highly lucrative. As skilled tradespeople become harder and harder to find, learning this rare but heavily needed skill set offers exceptional long-term earning potential and job security. We are hiring for attitude, motivation, and a willingness to learn over an existing skill set. If you do not have direct experience in upholstery or fabrication, we still highly encourage you to apply. We are fully prepared to train the right person from the ground up to master this trade.
What You Will Do (Once Trained):
- Assist in the complete tear-down and deconstruction of seating and interiors.
- Handle the logistics of customer projects, including off-site pickups, deliveries, removals, and final installations.
- Learn to pattern, cut, and prep marine-grade vinyl and materials for the sewing and fabrication process.
- Take initiative to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop workspace without needing to be micromanaged.
- Work closely with the lead fabricator to ensure high-quality output on every project.
Who We Are Looking For:
- You are a self-starter who proactively looks for ways to help around the shop and improve workflows.
- You are eager, trainable, and highly motivated to learn a specialized, hands-on trade.
- You have a strong attention to detail and take pride in doing things the right way.
- You are reliable, punctual, and comfortable working on your feet and using basic hand and power tools.
