This position is responsible for safeguarding company assets, managing cash flow, analyzing cost structures, budgets, and labor requirements, and supporting strategic decision-making to optimize economic performance.The Financial Controller monitors and controls expenditures, forecasts financial trends, and implements strategies to support sustainable revenue growth. This role is essential to maintaining the hotel’s financial stability on a monthly basis while supporting long-term financial planning.RESPONSIBILITIESOversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statementsEnsure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and company policiesIdentify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controlsCoordinate with external auditors and provide required documentation during auditsConduct internal audits to evaluate and strengthen internal control systemsMonitor and manage cash flow to ensure operational liquidityDevelop tax strategies to optimize the organization’s tax positionAnalyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvementPresent financial information to executive leadership, ownership, asset managers, and the owners’ CPA firmSupervise all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reportingDevelop financial forecasts and long-term strategies to support revenue growth and business objectivesON-SITE WORK REQUIREMENTThis position is a fully on-site role based at Mr. C Coconut Grove. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available. The Financial Controller is expected to work in the office to effectively support hotel operations, collaborate with leadership teams, and oversee on-property financial activities.REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLSBachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA certification required (Master’s degree a plus)Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in hotel finance, such as Financial Controller or Assistant Financial ControllerStrong working knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax, and bankingAdvanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (Excel required)Experience with property management systems; Opera experience strongly preferredExcellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skillsGrooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with Mr. C standardsINTENT AND FUNCTION OF JOB DESCRIPTIONS:All descriptions have been reviewed to ensure that only essential functions and basic duties have been included.
