This individual will oversee scrap metal and waste movement operations at an industrial manufacturing facility. This hands-on leadership role supervises hourly team members, supports safe and efficient material flow, coordinates with plant personnel and vendors, and helps maintain environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities And Job Duties
- Supervise scrap metal and waste handling activities to ensure safe, timely, and compliant service.
- Lead, train, coach, and schedule hourly employees while promoting accountability, teamwork, and a strong safety culture.
- Coordinate with plant personnel, vendors, recyclers, and transportation providers to support pickups, container swaps, reporting needs, and service continuity.
- Monitor scrap collection points, chip hoppers, containers, staging areas, equipment, and traffic lanes to prevent overflow, contamination, blocked access, or unsafe conditions.
- Operate or oversee mobile equipment such as fork trucks, pallet jacks, burden carriers, tuggers, and related material-handling equipment as needed.
- Perform or verify equipment inspections, report maintenance needs, and remove damaged or unsafe equipment from service.
- Support environmental, health, and safety compliance, including PPE use, housekeeping, hazardous waste handling, labeling, storage, and spill response expectations.
- Maintain required records, including job reports, inspection documentation, route sheets, waste or scrap records, training documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
- High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, safety, operations management, logistics, industrial technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of supervisory, lead, or labor-management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, logistics, environmental services, or waste-handling environment.
- Ability to supervise hourly employees, communicate clearly, solve problems, complete basic reports, and work independently in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including respirator protection when applicable.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work involving standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working around mobile equipment.
- Fork truck or mobile equipment certification.
