Quality Inspector
Location: MPP, Rockwood, TN
Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting parts at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product integrity and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect in-process components and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications
- Perform visual and mechanical inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and comparators
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records
- Identify, reject, and quarantine non-conforming materials; initiate corrective actions as needed
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation
- Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes
- Ensure inspection and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained
- Participate in internal audits and support external audits as required
- Maintain adherence to company quality, safety, and housekeeping standards
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with inspection tools and measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills; experience with quality systems or ERP software is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
- Technical certification or vocational training in manufacturing or quality
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram)
