What you’ll do
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems to ensure proper billing.
- Process medical billing claims and manage accounts receivable to optimize revenue cycle management.
- Review patient records for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all necessary documentation is present.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to input and retrieve patient data efficiently.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or coding issues.
- Conduct medical collections as needed, following up on unpaid claims to ensure timely payments.
- Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations to maintain compliance.
Basic qualifications
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Proficient in DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding principles.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting or related field.
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems, specifically AthenaOne.
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is a plus.
