What are the responsibilities and job description for the Burn and Trauma Clinical Specialist, DFW Territory position at MPM Medical?
If you have worked in a burn unit or burn ICU and have thought about moving into industry, read on.
If your medical device background is orthopedics, spine or sports medicine, this is not the right role for you. Different room, different committee, different clinician.
ABOUT MPM MEDICAL
MPM Medical manufactures advanced collagen and wound care products in Mesquite, Texas. Our Activated Collagen Matrix is used in inpatient burn and trauma programs across the country, including the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
THE ROLE
You will own MPM's presence in the inpatient burn and trauma services of the Dallas / Fort Worth metro, starting at Medical City Plano. It is a Level I trauma center and one of two ABA verified burn centers in North Texas. We already hold a contract there with pricing in place, so the work is clinical adoption, not contracting.
You will spend most of your week on the unit. Burn ICU, burn unit, trauma service, inpatient wound team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Cover inpatient burn and trauma at Medical City Plano, then extend to the other DFW Level I and II trauma centers
- Work with surgeons, advanced practice providers and unit nursing on live cases
- Build the clinical case for protocol adoption and carry it through value analysis
- Run in-service education for unit nursing and residents
- Act as the link between the burn units and our Mesquite manufacturing and R&D teams
- Carry and deliver a territory revenue target
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
A burn ICU nurse or burn nurse practitioner ready to move into industry, or someone who already sells burn or inpatient wound products into verified burn centers.
You know what happens on day three. You know who decides what goes on the wound bed, how an excision and grafting plan is made, and how a product gets onto a unit's protocol.
Required:
- RN, BSN or NP with time in a burn ICU, burn unit or inpatient complex wound service; or industry experience selling burn or inpatient wound products into verified burn centers
- Credible with burn surgeons and unit nursing as a clinical peer
- Understanding of how an inpatient hospital adds a product to protocol, including value analysis
- Willing to carry a revenue target
Helpful:
- Relationships in a DFW burn or trauma program
- Experience with collagen matrices, skin substitutes or cellular tissue products
- Familiarity with GPO and IDN contract structures
COMPENSATION
A solid base salary, with high earning potential through commission.
The base reflects your clinical expertise and is set so that moving off the unit is not a step backwards financially. We know bedside nurses earn shift differentials and overtime, and we have accounted for that.
The commission is where this role pays. It is uncapped and tied to the growth you create in your territory. You are not splitting it with anyone.
Also included: full medical, dental and vision, mileage and travel expenses, and no rotating shifts or scheduled nights, weekends or holidays. This is still burn and trauma care, so there will be times you stay late or come in for a case.
HOW TO APPLY
Email your CV to sudheer.kancherla@mpmmed.com with a short note describing one burn or complex wound case you influenced, and how the product decision actually got made.
Applications without that note will not be reviewed.
