Job Summary:
MPI-K9 is seeking a highly motivated and professional Security Officer to join our team in Lexington, Kentucky. The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients’ employees, visitors, and customers. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, and possess a strong sense of professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish a security presence
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
- Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed
- Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas
- Investigate and report safety hazards and assist with emergency evacuations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Previous security experience preferred, but not required
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and a sense of professionalism
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test
