What are the responsibilities and job description for the Band Teacher position at mphawks?
Mid-Prairie Community School is seeking a Band Teacher to lead the 5th-grade band at their Middle School and 5th-12th grade band at their Home School Assistance Program located in Kalona, IA. Applicants must have a BA in education and hold an IA Teaching license with endorsements of Music (5-12), Music (K-8). Experience in classroom teaching in 5th 12th grade is preferred but not necessary.
Essential Duties:
• Perform essential duties on-site; other tasks may be assigned
• Develop and implement Instrumental Music programming for 5th grade at the Middle School, support 6th-8th grade band through collaboration, and the 5-12 Home School Assistance Program students at the Home School Education
Center.
• Support and implement district curriculum, standards, and benchmarks
• Assist middle school staff with strategies to support student needs and academic goals
• Maintain active communication and positive relationships with parents and community members
• Assist in planning and delivering social, emotional, and behavioral school-wide programs
• Collaborate with principal, home school director, school counselor, staff, parents, and students on instrumental music matters
• Maintain appropriate records and protect confidentiality of data
• Consistently meet the 8 Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria
• Report to work regularly and reliably
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
• Communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms
• Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
