Tax Manager, Fund Compliance Principal Responsibilities Manage the overall U.S. tax compliance process for various investment funds, ensuring timely and accurate filings Review (and prepare, as needed) tax returns and related workpapers, including complex tax adjustments such as securities analysis, OID/market discount calculations, and Section 163(j) computations Oversee relationships with external tax advisors, including fee/scope negotiations and feedback conversations Partner with other members of the tax team and other departments to drive automation initiatives and improve tax compliance processes Assist the Financial Reporting team with audit requests, including review of any required tax provisions Manage tax audits for investment entities and respond to inquiries and notices from tax authorities Resolve complex technical tax issues, consult with experts, and prepare well-synthesized findings to management Collaborate with departments such as Accounting, Investor Relations, Operations and Middle Office to provide tax expertise Participate in cross-functional projects to support operations, drive departmental excellence, and foster teamwork Monitor the changing tax landscape and assist with strategic tax planning initiatives, including updates to Senior Management Analyze current and prospective trading products to identify areas of tax risk and assess impact on the U.S. tax compliance process Maintain expertise in key U.S. tax code sections relevant to hedge fund partnership compliance, including but not limited to Sections 475(f), 1256, 897, and 1441-1446 Assist with the monitoring of the Firm’s FIRPTA/ECI risk and work closely with other departments to resolve, as appropriate Provide support with respect to the review of corporate actions, as needed Flexible approach to meet the changing needs of the Tax Team and Finance Department Qualifications/Skills Required Approximately 8 years of hedge or credit fund tax experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and private funds experience Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills together with excellent interpersonal and client service skills Deep understanding of partnership taxation, financial products, and their tax implications Strong technical proficiency with web applications and MS Office Ability to multitask as well as meet short deadlines in a fast-paced environment Tax analytical modelling experience The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future.
