Senior Process Engineer

Movement Search and Delivery is working with a leading metal fabricator in Dunkirk, New York to identify and evaluate a Sr. Process Engineer.

About the Role:

This is a senior technical role owning open-die and GFM forging processes at the Dunkirk facility. You'll be accountable for developing, optimizing, and sustaining forging and thermal processes working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, engineering, and commercial teams while interfacing directly with customers. This role has no direct reports and is expected to grow into the primary technical point of contact for forging processes at the site. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

What You Will Do:

• Own forging process capability for open-die and GFM operations- temperature, strain and reduction, thermomechanical processing windows
• Develop, validate, and optimize forging routes, furnace parameters, heat treatment cycles, and process windows to hit mechanical property and quality targets
• Lead customer qualification and development programs, including new material introduction and process validation
• Drive cost reduction, yield improvement, and throughput optimization through metallurgical and process improvements
• Develop and maintain forging programs/tables for the 4K press and GFM, and process standards for internal and outside conversion customers
• Serve as technical lead for outside conversion business- forging approaches, quoting support, and identifying growth opportunities
• Define and implement process monitoring and control systems (SPC, capability tracking, data analysis)
• Partner with maintenance and engineering on new equipment commissioning and operating envelopes
• Lead technical resolution of process issues, customer quality concerns, and non-conformances
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operations personnel

What You Need to Succeed:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
• 8–12 years of experience in forging and thermomechanical processing of high-performance alloys- hands-on forging and metal processing experience is a must
• Strong technical grounding in process control, SPC/data analysis, and customer-facing technical problem solving
