What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health Safety Specialist position at Movement Search & Delivery?
Our client is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production.
The HSE Specialist will support the implementation of company health, safety, and environmental programs, processes, and systems.
Responsible for:
- Activities that drive site and company safety and environmental performance to higher levels
- Focusing on improvements that will increase the level of adherence and compliance to company HSE objectives
- Ensuring the health and safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors through the adherence to HSE standards, policies, and procedures
- Managing site Worker's Compensation matters, first aid and CPR training, fit testing, and other safety/health program requirements
Environmental:
- Review and maintain all environmental permits
- Prepare and submit required reports and permit applications as required
Safety:
- Provides 24/7 availability to plant, as required
- Partners with plant management to establish and maintain an active safety committee, leads safety meetings, and conducts safety walk arounds
- Develop, upgrade, and implement safety and health training programs and systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company requirements
- Follows investigation practices and procedures for all incidents and near misses to determine the causes and the corrective actions necessary to prevent recurrences.
- Maintains accurate recordkeeping data as required by OSHA and company standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in safety or equivalent major
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in a health and safety role with demonstrated understanding of H&S principles and regulations
- Strong persuasion and motivation skills, as well as the ability to work across all disciplines and employee levels
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to accurately write reports, communicate verbally with employees, provide constructive feedback, and maintain positive employee relations
