Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented EV Charging Station Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electric vehicle charging stations. This role requires strong technical expertise, compliance with safety standards, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform commissioning of newly installed EV charging stations to ensure proper operation and network connectivity.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on EVSE equipment, including Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers (DCFC).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues using specialized tools and software.
- Coordinate with Network Operations Centers (NOC) for remote diagnostics and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable safety regulations.
- Complete technical documentation and service reports accurately and on time.
- Provide on-site customer support, including explaining maintenance procedures and system status.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism in all field operations.
Required Certifications
- EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) – Required for all federally funded EV infrastructure projects under NEVI. Mandatory for consideration.
- SAE EVSE Field Technician Certification – Demonstrates competency in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of EV charging equipment. Required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Note: EVITP certification is mandatory. SAE EVSE certification must be obtained prior to or within 90 days of hire.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must meet minimum age requirements for company vehicle insurance coverage.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in field environments.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with electrical systems, EV infrastructure, or comparable technical field work.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and interpret technical documentation.
- Physically able to lift, carry, and handle equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to kneel, bend, and work in various physical conditions as required.
- Strong communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus).
- Ability to work independently with strong time management skills.
