Overview
Mountain West Engineering is seeking a motivated Civil 3D Designer/Drafter to be an integral part of our design team. We are looking for a self-directed individual eager for growth and opportunity, who enjoys working within multi-disciplinary project teams and directly with company leadership.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Design & Drafting: Prepare detailed 2D and 3D construction drawings, including site plans, grading, drainage, utility layouts, and underground infrastructure for residential and land development projects.
- Project Execution: Coordinate and compile multi-discipline backgrounds to set up and maintain contract documents and electronic design drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Technical Calculations: Perform site feasibility analysis, earthwork calculations, and stormwater drainage designs to ensure project viability and regulatory compliance.
- Quality Control: Correct internal markups, conduct peer reviews, and provide initial quality control checks on all deliverable packages.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Surveyors to develop efficient, cost-effective design solutions.
- Field Integration: Review geotechnical reports and survey data; conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and address construction-related challenges.
- Documentation: Prepare as-built drawings, permit applications, and technical documentation in compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Associate degree or higher in Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of progressive experience in civil design, preferably within an architectural or engineering firm.
- Software Mastery: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. Experience with Bluebeam, Word, Excel, and hydraulic modeling software (StormCAD, etc.) is a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil design principles, local/state codes, and construction standards.
- Mindset: A "team-player" attitude with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision when required.
