What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer position at Survial Garden Seeds?
OUR MISSION
We’re a family-owned garden seed company on a mission to create self-reliance through gardening—helping more people grow their own food, reconnect with nature, and build security for their families.
Design plays a critical role in that mission. Our packaging and digital assets are often the first (and sometimes only) interaction customers have with our brand, so clarity, consistency, and quality matter.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
We’re hiring a detail-driven Graphic Designer to support our creative workload and help us maintain momentum as we grow. This role begins as a contract position and is designed to ensure packaging and eCommerce visuals move forward accurately, consistently, and on time—without breaking established systems or brand standards.
This is not a blank-slate creative role. It’s a production-focused role for someone who takes pride in precision, follow-through, and getting the details right.
This role is remote or in-office so we can collaborate closely, move quickly, and support hands-on onboarding. Strong performance, ownership, and mutual fit can lead to a transition into a permanent employee role over time.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You’ll be successful in this role if you:
- Deliver packaging files that are production-ready with minimal revisions
- Create eCommerce assets that are clear, consistent, and conversion-focused
- Maintain an organized, accurate, and reliable asset library
- Apply feedback quickly and precisely while protecting brand consistency
- Communicate clearly and follow through reliably in a collaborative environment
- Work independently while proactively asking questions when context, priorities, or direction are unclear
If you enjoy being the designer others trust to “just get it right,” and you’re comfortable earning responsibility through results, you’ll feel at home here.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Modify and prepare existing packaging files for print production
- Create and format digital assets for Amazon, Walmart, and other eCommerce platforms
- Build gallery images, infographics, and simple marketing visuals for product listings
- Maintain and organize a large library of design and product assets
- Work alongside the creative team during scheduled hours
- Implement feedback thoughtfully while maintaining strong design consistency
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
You’re likely a strong fit if you:
- Have hands-on experience with packaging layout and file preparation (especially Illustrator)
- Are highly comfortable with Adobe Creative Cloud
- Are detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
- Can work independently while collaborating in person with a team
- Enjoy working within established brand guidelines and systems
- Have basic gardening knowledge—you know your basil from your beets
- Take pride in ownership, accuracy, and follow-through
- Are located locally and able to work in-office consistently
Our values aren’t aspirational—they show up in how work gets done, how feedback is given, and how standards are upheld every day.
WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR
This role is probably not a good fit if you:
- Have never done any packaging or digital design
- Prefer greenfield branding or highly conceptual creative work
- Get frustrated working within existing systems or templates
- Need constant direction or open-ended creative freedom
- Struggle with production accuracy or deadlines
We value clarity over volume and want the right fit on both sides.
NICE TO HAVES (NOT REQUIRED)
- Experience creating assets for Amazon or Walmart listings
- Experience with vegetable, flower, and herb gardening
- Familiarity with ClickUp or similar project management tools
- Videography and video editing skills
- Experience using PickFu or other creative testing platforms
WHO WE ARE
We’re a U.S.-based, family-run seed company grounded in three core values: quality in everything, extreme ownership, and humility in all things.
Our team is supportive, kind, and purpose-driven. We collaborate closely, communicate clearly, and celebrate shared wins.
