Job Description:
MVCS is seeking 2 full time 1:1 academic/behavioral assistant to support students in their classrooms. The teaching team in the classroom consists of one lead teacher and one assistant teacher. The classroom is rooted in the principles of Montessori method to guide instruction and classroom management.
Special education experience is strongly desired.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
-Provide behavioral support to the student(s) by implementing strategies/language outlined in the Behavior Plan, documenting daily observational data and regularly meeting with the teaching team to discuss student progress toward meeting social/emotional goals. (i.e model appropriate behavior, deliver consistent expectations and follow up, regularly communicate with the teaching team).
-Provide academic support and intervention directly to the student(s) under the supervision of the classroom and special education teachers to meet academic goals (ie. provide 1:1 support in the classroom, explain instructions and lessons, model appropriate behavior, communicate regularly with the academic team).
-Collaborate with the teaching team, including classroom teacher, special education team, head of school, and parents.
-Other duties as assigned.
A successful candidate will have:
-A bachelor’s degree, and/or related experience.
-Knowledge of child development and learning styles.
-Ability to follow and implement a student's IEP.
-Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions.
-Ability and motivation to modify and accommodate to student’s needs within the classroom.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to collaborate with student’s academic team.
-Ability to demonstrate high standards of professional and ethical standards.
-A passion for teaching and learning.

Pay: $17.85 - $22.00 per hour
