Position Summary
The Medication Aide II is responsible for the safe and accurate administration of routine medications to residents in accordance with physician orders, facility policy, and Montana Board of Nursing regulations. This role functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN/LPN) within the scope of the MA II certification. The Medication Aide II also provides direct resident care, assists with daily living activities, and promotes a positive, caring environment for all residents.
Key Responsibilities
Administer prescribed medications following approved procedures and state regulations for Medication Aide II.
Observe residents for side effects or adverse reactions and promptly report findings to licensed nursing staff.
Document medication administration accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) or MAR.
Maintain accurate inventory and proper storage of medications.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Uphold resident rights, dignity, and confidentiality in all interactions.
Participate in ongoing training and continuing education as required by facility and Board standards.
Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence in resident care.
Qualifications
Must hold an active Medication Aide II license through the Montana Board of Nursing.
Must have an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing.
Minimum of 1,000 hours of CNA experience in a long-term care facility (as required by Montana Board of Nursing).
Completion of an approved Medication Aide II training program and passing score on the state examination.
Current CPR certification.
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a passion for resident-centered care.
