- Job Purpose:
- We are seeking a candidate who is Bilingual in Spanish. Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, positive, and effective learning environment for students. The assistant works with individual students and small groups to reinforce instructions, support academic and behavioral growth, assist with classroom management, and help meet the educational, social, and developmental needs of children. The position also assists with daily classroom routines,supervision, preparation of instructional materials and communication that promotes student sucess and school readiness.

- Candidates must have at least 48 hours of creditable college credit

Job Description and Duties
- Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities by working with individual students and small groups to reinforce lessona and support student learning.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment by supervising students, supporting behavior expections and assisting with classroom management routines.
- Prepare instructional materials, classroom displays, technology, and learning centers to support effective teaching and student engagement.
- Communicates with parents in a timely manner; maintains positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community.
- Protects students, materials and facilities taking necessary and reasonable precautions.
- Upholds and enforces board policy, district goals, administrative procedures and school rules and regulations.
- Adheres to health and safety policies.
- Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance
- Provide assistance with daily student needs such as transitions, arrival and dismissal duties, cafeteria
- Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics and state and federal laws.
- Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in areas of the school.
- Ability to perform non-instructional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
- Work has standard vision requirements.
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
