Job Summary:
Residential Manager II
The Residential Manager II oversees and participates in the development and delivery of services designed to further the abilities of adults with developmental disabilities to live, learn and work in a more independent and inclusive manner. The Residential Manager II is responsible for direct support, administrative duties and management of staff in the designated program. This position oversees a program and works both direct support hours and administrative hours.
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week, 20 hours a week of administrative work, 20 hours per week or direct care- must be available mornings, evenings, weekends and overnights.

MVDS supports adults and children in Eagle, Garfield, Lake and Pitkin counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Our work provides life span services for these individuals, their parents and family members, guardians, colleagues at work, neighbors, and friends to promote independence, quality of life, and rights protection.

Responsibilities:
- Administrative Oversight: Ensure all shifts are covered, staffing aligns with budget and client needs, assessments are completed on time, and budget input is provided and followed, including efficient scheduling and timekeeping review.
- Leadership & Staff Supervision: Train, mentor, and evaluate staff; set clear expectations; recognize strong performance; address concerns professionally; and lead monthly staff meetings.
- Recruitment & Human Resources: Notify HR of vacancies, assist in hiring processes, and maintain high standards for staff competency and accountability.
- Program & Household Management: Oversee menu planning, client fund reconciliation, medication supply management, billing, and MAR reviews, while supporting functional program areas.
- Person-Centered Support: Promote dignity, rights, choices, and growth opportunities for individuals, ensuring access to community resources and encouraging environmental ownership.
- Individualized Care & Coordination: Implement and monitor Individualized Plans, assist with personal care and physical transfers, and coordinate with the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Health & Medical Oversight: Attend medical appointments, communicate health changes, administer medications properly, follow protocols, and maintain accurate health documentation.
- Safety & Risk Management: Ensure a safe, clean environment; follow emergency protocols; conduct drills; maintain vehicles; and identify and report hazards or maintenance needs.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate records, respond to correspondence, document shifts, and enter attendance and billing in a timely and compliant manner.

We Love to See:
- A High School Diploma, GED.
- College Degree Preferred.
- Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant/Aide training is preferred.
- Previous experience in health care, human services, or nursing home setting preferred.
We Require:
- 2 years of general management experience required
- A criminal and Motor Vehicle record which meets company standards.
- A valid Colorado Driver’s license.
- Verified legal status to work in the United States.
- Ability to use computers fluently (Internet, Word Processing).
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Basic money management and budgeting skills.
- Strong organizational skills and adept at performing multiple tasks at once.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent walking, sitting, and use of hands; occasional standing, bending, driving, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Requires full vision, hearing, and communication abilities, regular reading, writing, reasoning, and computer use.
- May involve exposure to verbal or physical aggression; staff receive training to prevent and manage such situations safely.
Qualifications:

- A minimum of 6–12 months of longevity with MVDS
- No active disciplinary actions/ Must be in good standing
- Consistently meets or exceeds performance expectations (e.g., based on evaluations or supervisor input)

Essential Functions
Administrative Duties
- Responsible to assure all shifts are covered.
- Complete all required assessments and reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the program is staffed appropriately to meet individual needs and budgetary requirements.
- Provide input to the Finance Office for budget development.
- Adhere to program budget. Minimize scheduling overtime and utilize resources efficiently.
- Verify and approve staff timekeeping records on a regular basis (no less than weekly).
- Review and respond to leave requests.
Supervision of Staff
- Provide leadership by demonstrating a strong work ethic, solution oriented thinking, open mindedness, active listening, good judgment, decisiveness, accountability and strategic thought.
- Communicate expectations clearly and maintain a high level of accountability.
- Train new hires on all job duties and ensure competence.
- Recognize good performance frequently and specifically.
- Provide constructive criticism privately and professionally.
- Address performance issues in a timely and constructive manner and implement corrective action or recommend termination as necessary.
- Conduct staff meetings at least monthly; meet with individuals or small-groups as necessary.
- Notify Human Resources of staff vacancies. Interview applicants as requested.
- Complete annual performance evaluations of staff.
- Responsible for supervising, mentoring and training staff during all work hours.
Program Specific Duties
- Plan healthy and varied menus for the house weekly. Assure menus meet the Department of Health regulations.
- Balance and reconcile client personal needs funds records and financial records on no less than a weekly basis.
- Safeguard individuals’ belongings and regularly update individual inventories.
- Attend and assist clients at medical appointments as needed.
- Ensure medications and medical supplies are on hand as ordered.
- Respond to and correct deficiencies found during internal monitoring and external surveys.
- Submit monthly billing and attendance accurately and timely.
- Approve MAR and perform medication audits monthly.
- Each Manager will be assigned oversight of one or more functional areas including but not limited to day services, residential services, recreation or greenhouse. Managers are responsible to fulfill duties required for each position not enumerated in this job description and to maintain the necessary expertise in his or her functional area.

- Respond as a Mandatory Reporter. Report all incidents of suspected client rights violations, mistreatment, abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately according to Colorado state law and MVDS policies and procedures.

Safety (Risk Management) – Protecting individuals from harm
- Assist individuals to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Create and maintain program’s chore chart for a list of duties.
- Provide safe transportation of persons receiving services, drive defensively and follow traffic laws.
- Follow safety guidelines including, but not limited to healthy lifting, transferring, and back care.
- Identify and solve potential safety hazards, repair or maintenance needs or immediately report them to the Operations Manager.
- In case of emergency, follow the emergency plan identified for the facility; notify appropriate authorities and Mountain Valley staff as soon as possible.
- Conduct, document and participate in emergency drills as required.
- Ensure the vehicles are well-maintained and cared for.
- Interact successfully with people in times of crisis or unpleasant environments.
Individualized Plan and Care Coordination
- Participate in the development of the Individualized Plan (IP) for each resident including analyzing progress and developing new goals for the biannual assessment.
- Provide services and implement goals in accordance with the Individualized Plan for each individual supported.
- Communicate with the Interdisciplinary Team as needs change.
- Assist individuals with physical and personal care as identified in the Individualized Plan (IP).
- Assist non-ambulatory individuals with physical transfer as necessary, including, but not limited to, pushing wheelchairs, assisting someone in standing from a seated or laying position and entering and exiting vehicles.
Documentation
- Review necessary documentation at start of shift and enter necessary documentation at by the end of shift per MVDS policies and procedures.
- Respond to correspondence (emails, voicemails, Therap, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Enter attendance and billing in a timely manner.
Medical Needs
- Communicate with the Medical Office about observed changes in physical and emotional needs in a timely manner.
- Accurately administer medications, document administration and report/document all medication administration errors, as directed by the Medical Office and medication administration policies.
- Follow health protocols and care plans.
- Ensure documentation of all health information as needed (vitals, seizure reports etc.).
- Prepare and serve balanced, healthy meals according to doctor ordered diets.
Other Required Duties
Standards of Behavior/Conduct
- Respond to all requests for information or communication in a timely manner.
- Report all on-the-job injuries to immediate supervisor and Director of Human Resources within 24 hours of the occurrence and provide a detailed account of the events leading to the injury.
Attendance and Scheduling
- Report for work on-time and as scheduled.
- Enter daily, accurate timekeeping records in timekeeping database.
- Attend all regular staff meetings and other meetings as requested by supervisory or administrative staff members.
- Work schedule as assigned.
- Have all time-off requests pre-approved.
- Work at any MVDS facility and be responsible for own transportation to work.
Competencies and Certifications
- Complete all mandatory new hire requirements and training as identified by the State of Colorado and Mountain Valley’s training requirements within 90 days of hire and maintain courses and certifications as required.
- Maintain skills with computers, take advantage of new technology, learn new tools quickly, use technology to enhance job performance and increase productivity. Maintain current understanding of technical processes/equipment.

- Adhere to MVDS policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure effective functioning of Mountain Valley’s programming.
