What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Support Specialist position at Mountain Lake Academy?
Hourly range $24.03 - $25.00 based on experience
Mountain Lake Academy is an experiential-based program that works with students in grades 7-12 at a year-round boarding school located in the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Mountain Lake Academy provides a variety of experiential-based programming for boys in grades 7-12. These experiences include hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, multi-day expeditions, and vocational programming.
What to expect:
As a Family Support Specialist, you will participate in campus-wide activities, meetings, and other coordinating activities to increase the success of MLA and its students. Provide supervision, transportation, and general care to students both on and off campus to help ensure appropriate experiences. Coordination, advocacy, and case planning services to students and their families, including treatment planning and implementation, as assigned.
This position is ideal for an individual who is organized and has excellent communication skills. Experience working with children with both emotional and learning disabilities in a therapeutic/experiential setting is desired.

What you'll need:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
- Successful completion of all required background checks in compliance with the New York State Justice Center and OCFS regulations
- Valid New York State driver’s license
- Individuals with the skills, confidence, and experience working with students in both individual and group settings
- The ability to communicate with both internal and external resources in a professional manner
