Job Description

Mountain Gateway Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. Adjunct Instructor – Forestry (8-Week Courses)

We’re seeking a dynamic, motivated Forestry Instructor to teach engaging 8-week courses at Mountain Gateway Community College. What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver engaging instruction in forestry and natural resource topics
  • Introduce students to foundational concepts such as forest management, conservation, and sustainability
  • Create an inclusive, hands-on learning environment (field-based learning encouraged where applicable)
  • Design lesson plans aligned with course outcomes
  • Provide timely feedback and academic support to students
  • Incorporate current industry practices and technologies into instruction

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field is typically required.
Experience: Previous experience in the forest industry, natural resources, or related field.
Skills: Strong knowledge of the forest ecosystem, natural resources management, mapping technology, and proficient in aspects of the natural working system. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. Strong computer skills including Microsoft systems such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
