Mental Health Associate – Outpatient
Mountain Comprehensive Care Center is hiring a Mental Health Associate to provide services in an outpatient behavioral health setting. This position supports adults, children, and youth through assessment, referral, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, psychoeducation, and care coordination.
The Mental Health Associate helps clients access appropriate services, build coping skills, improve functioning, and reduce the need for crisis intervention, hospitalization, or justice-system involvement.
Position Overview
The Mental Health Associate provides therapeutic interventions, referrals, screenings, assessments, and ongoing support in both individual and group settings. This role requires strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and the ability to work as part of a treatment team to support client-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
The Mental Health Associate will:
- Conduct referrals, screenings, and assessments to support appropriate service planning.
- Evaluate client needs, including behavioral health, medical, social, and support needs.
- Develop and implement evidence-based, person-centered plans of care.
- Ensure care plans address treatment access, medication needs, supportive services, goals, and criteria for completion of treatment.
- Monitor client progress and compliance with the person-centered plan.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic services to adults, children, and youth in accordance with individualized treatment plans.
- Provide psychoeducation, skill-building support, and other therapeutic interventions as clinically appropriate.
- Support clients in reducing crisis intervention contacts, psychiatric hospitalizations, and justice-system involvement.
- Participate in weekly treatment team meetings.
- Complete all required training for the assigned program.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with program expectations.
- Maintain compliance with Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities standards and MCCC policies and procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a mental health discipline (i.e: psychology, social work, counseling) from an accredited college/university and experience working with the targeted population. Complete required trainings in evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: One year experience with appropriate evidence-based practices preferred. Good verbal and written skills; creativity; patience and flexibility. Must pass a background check and have a valid KY driver’s license.
