Lift Ops Supervisor

Description

The Lift Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and guest-focused operation of aerial and surface lifts at Lee Canyon. This position supervises and supports lift operators, maintains compliance with safety standards, ensures positive guest interactions, and assists with training and daily operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily lift operations, ensuring lifts open and close safely and on schedule.

• Lead, train, and motivate a team of lift operators, maintaining strong communication and morale.

• Monitor lift operations for efficiency, safety, and guest service standards.

• Conduct daily inspections and operational checks, ensuring compliance with state and resort safety codes.

• Respond quickly and effectively to lift incidents, stoppages, or guest concerns.

• Serve as the communication link between lift operators, maintenance, ski patrol, and management.

• Ensure staff follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

• Provide feedback, coaching, and corrective action when necessary.

• Assist with scheduling, assigning breaks, and coordinating staff coverage.

• Promote excellent guest service, addressing questions and concerns in a professional manner.

• Maintain accurate logs, incident reports, and daily operational records.

• Support resort initiatives, events, and overall mountain operations as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• A valid, current, unrestricted driver’s license is required. 

• At least one year of lift operations experience is required.

• At least one year of experience in a leadership or team-building role is preferred.

• Must be available to work at least 4 days per week, including holidays and weekends.

• Knowledge of lift controls and operations for aerial and surface lifts.

• Knowledge of lift and ski area safety processes and procedures.

• Skill in basic machinery.

• Skill in providing excellent customer service.

• Ability to provide leadership to a large-scale team.

• Ability to read, understand, and comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

• Ability to regularly work in adverse weather conditions. 

• Ability to frequently walk on slippery, icy, and uneven surfaces.

• Ability to safely work in high-voltage areas.

• Ability to shovel and transport snow (up to 70 lbs.) for long periods in adverse outdoor conditions.

• Ability to occasionally lift, push or pull 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.

• Ability to ski or snowboard safely to and from assigned workstations using company-designated routes. Note: In some instances, employees without fundamental ski or snowboarding ability may be assigned workstations where such abilities are not required.

• Ability to use hand tools (rakes, ice picks, shovels, etc.) to perform regular maintenance on snow loading/unloading surfaces according to specified ANSI B77.1 standards.
