Lift Mechanic II
Position Summary
Pajarito Mountain Ski Area is seeking an experienced and safety-driven Lift Mechanic II to support the inspection, maintenance, repair, and operation of aerial and surface lifts. This mid-level position requires a strong mechanical background and the ability to work independently while supporting Lift Mechanic I staff and contributing to safe daily lift operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual lift inspections in accordance with ANSI B77 standards
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic lift systems
- Troubleshoot lift malfunctions and respond to operational issues in a timely manner
- Assist with and lead rope evacuations and emergency response procedures as needed
- Complete maintenance logs, inspection records, and regulatory documentation accurately
- Support seasonal startup, teardown, and load testing
- Assist with training and mentoring Lift Mechanic I staff
- Work closely with Mountain Operations and Patrol to ensure safe lift operations
- Maintain tools, work areas, and lift terminals in a clean and organized manner
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2–4 years of lift maintenance or related mechanical experience
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and hand/power tools
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on steep, uneven terrain
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings
