Purpose of the position:
The Guest Services Associate plays a pivotal role in Arizona Snowbowl's operations, reporting directly to the Guest Services Supervisors and Manager. As the first point of contact for our guests, this position is crucial in ensuring a welcoming and informative experience. Guest Services Associates are expected to be well-versed in all aspects of Arizona Snowbowl's operations and services, with the shared goal of giving our guests the freedom to ski. Responsibilities include ticketing, rentals, call center, season pass management, lesson program support, traffic direction, and providing general information — all while delivering exceptional customer service to enhance the guest experience.
Qualifications:
Essential Functions:
- Able to work at any register/location within the department (Guest Services, Call Center, Tickets, Rentals, and Host).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to answer phones and emails professionally.
- Outstanding work ethic and attendance, with willingness to work holidays and weekends.
- Proven commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations; a keen listener able to address guest concerns and de-escalate issues.
- Demonstrated teamwork, contribution to team objectives, and ability to collaborate with others daily.
- Familiarity with computers, software, and phone systems.
- Commitment to providing a safe environment for guests.
- Accurate and proficient basic math skills with attention to detail, resulting in accurate cash handling in a fast-paced environment; daily drawer balancing is required.
- Familiarity with and compliance with department policies.
- Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for long shifts, including navigating snowy or icy terrain.
- Basic knowledge of mountain/resort geography (lifts, trails, base areas) to give guests accurate directions.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing conditions (weather closures, lift delays, capacity changes) and communicate them calmly to guests.
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of cashier experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on creating positive guest experiences
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak business periods
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable using point-of-sale (POS) and ticketing/reservation software specific to ski resorts
- Previous experience in a guest services or customer-facing role
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working at elevations of 9,500 feet
- Able to move and carry at least 25 pounds
- Cleaning / Maintaining lodge and department areas such as windows, picking up trash, etc.
- Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for long shifts, including navigating snowy or icy terrain
- Comfortable working outdoors in cold, snowy, and variable weather conditions for extended periods
