Arizona Snowbowl Resort General Manager

MOUNTAIN CAPITAL PARTNERS LLC
FLAGSTAFF, AZ Full Time
POSTED ON 3/31/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/30/2026

Arizona Snowbowl is hiring a high-agency, ownership-minded leader to run the resort like a CEO.

This isn’t a “keep the trains running” general manager role. This is a build-and-grow role—driving the strategy, leading major development and capital execution, and elevating the guest experience and team culture at one of the most unique mountain destinations in North America.

If you’re the kind of leader who sees opportunity everywhere, takes accountability like an owner, and can inspire teams to deliver results in a complex, high-profile operation—keep reading.

About Arizona Snowbowl — Where Arizona Skis

Arizona Snowbowl sits high on the San Francisco Peaks just outside Flagstaff, blending alpine terrain with Southwestern skies and views that can stretch to the Grand Canyon. With terrain from 9,200 ft to 11,500 ft, 777 skiable acres, and 2,300 ft of vertical, Snowbowl delivers memorable experiences for first-timers, families, and experts alike.

A resort on the rise: We’ve invested $30M since 2016 in lifts, snowmaking, terrain, rentals, and guest experience improvements—and the next phase of growth will be led by you.

The Opportunity

As General Manager, you will partner with Mountain Capital Partners (MCP) leadership to set and execute a multi-year strategy that grows Snowbowl’s impact and performance—financially, operationally, and culturally.

You’ll build and oversee a strong leadership team that runs daily operations at a high standard so you can stay focused on strategy, development, capital execution, stakeholder alignment, and measurable growth.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Own the long term strategy and growth for Arizona Snowbowl
  • Live and lead MCP’s mission, vision, and culture: Skiing First and Giving People the Freedom to Ski
  • Partner with MCP leaders to define and drive the resort’s long-term strategic plan for growth, expansion, and guest experience
  • Translate strategy into annual operating plans, department goals, and measurable KPIs
  • Lead the leadership team with a strong operating rhythm: clear priorities, accountability, and results
  • Lead development, approvals, and external relationships
  • Lead the NEPA/USFS process to advance proposed projects and secure approvals
  • Partner with external stakeholders to drive development on public and private land
  • Serve as the resort’s primary ambassador with community, government, industry, media, and key partners
  • Deliver disciplined financial and operational performance
  • Lead annual operating and capital budgeting in partnership with MCP and resort leaders
  • Ensure operational excellence across mountain, base, resort services, and hospitality—while building systems and leaders to reduce reliance on the GM for daily execution
  • Build a performance culture that improves guest satisfaction, employee retention/engagement, and profitability
  • Build leaders and scale the organization
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a leadership team capable of running world-class operations
  • Mentor and grow leaders into broader responsibility and advancement within MCP
  • Create a talent pipeline and succession plans that increase organizational capacity over time
  • Plan and manage capital improvement projects, from concept through execution, with strong cost control, timeline discipline, and measurable outcomes

This role demands:

  • Ownership mindset (act like it’s yours)
  • High agency (you make things happen)
  • Strategic horsepower operator credibility
  • Exceptional leadership and communication
  • Comfort navigating complexity (USFS/NEPA, capital projects, community relationships, guest expectations, seasonal labor dynamics)
Qualifications:

Education / Training

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, management, or a relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in business, management, or a relevant field

Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 10 years in a management role in the ski industry or a business of similar complexity
  • Hands-on leadership expertise in at least two operational areas such as: lift operations, lift maintenance, trails/grooming, snowmaking, patrol, terrain park, vehicle maintenance, ski school, tickets, rentals, retail, guest services, food & beverage, hospitality, facilities maintenance, real estate/property development

Preferred:

  • Hands-on leadership expertise in three or more of the operational areas listed above
  • Experience working with the USFS and the NEPA process
  • Experience working with developers on public and private land
  • Experience managing large capital projects in a ski resort setting
