What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Mount Vernon Dumpster Rental?
The driver is responsible for the safe delivery and removal of roll-off dumpsters, collection of weekly trash, delivering trash cans, maintaining equipment including greasing trucks, and providing professional service to customers. This position requires strong driving skills, situational awareness, and the ability to work independently.
Job Duties
- Deliver and pick up roll-off dumpsters at customer locations
- Deliver trash cans
- Weekly trash service
- Safely operate hook-lift system
- Safely operate rear load trash truck
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections
- Secure and tarp loads when required
- Maintain clean and safe equipment
- Follow all DOT and company safety regulations
- Provide professional customer service during deliveries
- Be able to use driver app for routing and tasks as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Class B CDL (required)
- Valid DOT medical card
- 1–2 years CDL driving experience preferred
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass DOT drug test and background check
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb in/out of truck frequently
- Comfortable driving in tight residential and construction sites
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (including but not limited to sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting)
- General knowledge of the mechanics of trucks
- Ability to manage time unsupervised
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers
- Must be able to read directions, traffic signs & signals.
- This position requires attention to detail - looking for road hazards, overhead obstructions (i.e. power lines, trees)
