Position Responsibilities:

·       Answers telephone promptly; preferably by the third ring

·       Ensure calls are identified and properly categorized in order to forward to appropriate area within office timely and efficiently

·       Demonstrates proper telephone etiquette when receiving, transferring, and placing calls on hold

·       Hold times are to be kept to a minimum

·       Repeats key information when writing down messages to ensure accuracy

·       Accurately enters patient demographics information and insurance data in the computer as documented

·       Verifies insurance information, collect referrals and authorizations, and/or other forms as documented

·       Efficiently schedules appointments, recording them as documented and following practice policy

·       Ensures that authorizations are obtained prior to scheduling procedures/testing Consistently demonstrates a clear understanding of departmental needs and job functions as assigned by department Manager and/or immediate supervisor

·       Demonstrates flexibility as well as ability to perform multiple functions within the practice to increase departmental efficiency

·       Notify supervisor of any problems pertaining to processing the patients for upcoming testing/procedures

·       Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to communicate with other offices in an effort to accurately and efficiently schedule testing/procedures 

Qualifications:

·       3 years of experience in a physician practice/healthcare setting preferred

·        High School Diploma Required
