Summary:
Provides security services to MDIH property. Serves as a resource person to support MDIH staff in areas requiring security, support and reaction to emergencies or security breaches. Works independently, as well as with Nursing Supervisor to maintain security and order to MDIH property through regularly scheduled rounds of the property, as well as a uniformed security presence at our Main Entrance. Provides response services when called upon in times of crisis, emergency or security breaches.

Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of de-escalation training.
Experience Required:
Previous security experience preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform under situations of stress and in tense situations.
Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to take in, process and complete verbal tasks given in times of emergency, and respond accordingly.
- Ability to prioritize and follow through.
- Ability to perform under stress.
Physical Demands:
- Able to sit, stand and walk for a 10-12 hour shift.
- Adequate hearing, vision, speech and manual dexterity.
- General health must be such as to regularly work scheduled hours.
- Able to lift and carry 25-lbs.
Environment:
- Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Potential for exposure to contagious diseases.
- Potential for periods of moderate stress.
- Use of telephone and VDT.
