Elementary School Teachers Aide

Mount Alvernia Academy, a Franciscan Catholic elementary school, is seeking a full-time Teacher’s Aide. Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following Provides support to the entire class, or to students in 1:1, 1:2, or other designated ratios depending on the nature of the students’ abilities and learning needs. Provides general support for the classroom team. Works with a small group or whole class of students to facilitate lessons and activities following the classroom teacher’s instructions. When applicable, supports the academic & social-emotional needs of both typical and special education students. Maintain student confidentiality. Support students during class time, during specialist subjects such as music, physical education, library, and/or technology, as needed. Performs duties such as, but not limited to, arrival/dismissal, snack/lunch, and recess times. Provide classroom coverage when needed in accordance with qualifications and staffing plans. Carry out other assignments designated by the Principal. Job Requirements: Support the mission of Mount Alvernia Academy. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty. Effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently. Ability to follow safety procedures. Enjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all children. Basic computer skills. One year of experience or more doing similar work. At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred. College degree preferred, high school diploma with experience considered. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. While performing the duties of this job, the aide is frequently required to kneel, stoop, bend, and/or crouch. The aide is periodically required to stand while talking and listening. The teacher is occasionally required to sit, walk, and may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
