Mount Aloysius College, repeatedly recognized by ModernThink as a “Great College to Work For,” seeks highly qualified individuals with experience in student support services or academic advising to serve as a full-time Academic Advisor in the Center for Student Success & Persistence.
Current Opening
The Academic Advisor provides individual guidance to students regarding course selection and academic goal setting; assists with add/drop; and monitors student compliance with academic program requirements. Meets with and provides additional support to students who are on academic probation. This position serves as a helpful resource to faculty and refers students, as appropriate, to other Campus resources. The Academic Advisor coordinates support programs for academically at-risk students, teaches four (4) credits per academic year, and assists with the Peer Mentorship Program.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education or related area required. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in student support services or academic advising within a College or University setting required. Above average verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills required; Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite required. Excellent small group presentation and communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, maintain attention to detail orientation, and excel in a fast-paced, high volume office is required. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with others from diverse backgrounds, and also exercise independent thinking. Should be able to foresee risks and anticipate needs, and make sound decisions. Familiarity with Jenzabar EX or similar SIS and NACADA membership is a plus. High degree of professionalism and a demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality is required.
