Position SummaryThe Lead Registered Behavior Technician (Lead RBT) plays a key leadership role in supporting the delivery of high-quality ABA services across the clinic. This position bridges clinical and administrative functions by providing direct client services, mentoring RBTs, assisting with scheduling and staff coordination, and supporting the clinical team with implementation of treatment plans. The Lead RBT models professionalism, clinical excellence, and teamwork while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support

  • Deliver ABA therapy services to clients according to individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Model correct implementation of programs, data collection, and behavior protocols for new and existing RBTs.
  • Provide on-the-floor support to RBTs as needed (e.g., stepping into sessions, troubleshooting behavioral situations, problem-solving).
  • Communicate observations and feedback to supervising BCBAs regarding client progress and staff performance.

Scheduling & Staffing

  • Assist with creating and maintaining weekly staff and client schedules, ensuring coverage for all sessions and minimizing cancellations.
  • Proactively communicate with staff and families regarding schedule changes, call-outs, and session adjustments.
  • Work closely with clinic leadership to manage last-minute staffing needs and coordinate session coverage when absences occur.
  • Monitor staff hours, breaks, and session adherence to support billing accuracy and compliance.
  • Help coordinate staff time-off requests in alignment with clinic coverage needs.

Staff Leadership & Training

  • Serve as a point of contact for RBTs for day-to-day questions, logistical support, and escalation of concerns.
  • Support onboarding and training of new RBTs, including orientation to clinic procedures and session expectations.
  • Provide peer mentoring and informal performance feedback to promote clinical growth and professionalism.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews as requested.

Documentation & Communication

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of session notes and data entry in the clinic’s EHR system.
  • Track and communicate staff attendance, schedule changes, and coverage updates to the Office Manager and Clinical Supervisors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information in compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies.

Qualifications

  • Active RBT certification in good standing with the BACB
  • Minimum 1–2 years of RBT experience, preferably in a clinic-based ABA setting
  • Strong understanding of ABA principles, data collection, and session structure
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable taking initiative and coordinating with multiple team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with staff scheduling or administrative support
  • Leadership or mentoring experience within an ABA organization
  • Familiarity with scheduling/EHR software

Reports To: ABA DirectorSupervises: RBTs (non-clinical supervision; supports scheduling and operations)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-ExemptLocation: In clinic, 7:30-5:30 4 days a week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
