Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks to deliver ice products along designated route schedules, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload ice shipments efficiently while practicing safe lifting techniques and heavy lifting safety standards.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including route logs, delivery receipts, and inventory records.
- Communicate clearly with clients upon delivery, addressing their needs, answering questions, and building strong customer relationships.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Organize merchandise within the truck for optimal delivery efficiency and presentation at retail stores or customer locations.
- Upsell additional products or services when appropriate, utilizing sales skills to enhance customer satisfaction and increase revenue opportunities.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record and experience in commercial truck driving.
- Strong knowledge of route driving, traffic laws, and DOT regulations.
- Basic math skills for pricing calculations, inventory management, and transaction processing.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
- Prior retail store experience or merchandising background is a plus for understanding product placement and presentation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper lifting practices.
- Organizational skills to manage delivery schedules efficiently and maintain accurate records.
