Position: IT Software Engineer 4 (Senior SDET)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Duration: 12 Months

Role Summary:
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior SDET who can design and extend automation frameworks, develop automated test suites, and provide technical leadership across multiple applications. The ideal candidate will be strong in Java-based automation, API testing, performance testing, and CI/CD integration, with the ability to mentor test engineers and collaborate closely with product and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, extend, and maintain automation frameworks using Java/JavaScript.
- Develop automation scripts for CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous testing and integration.
- Build and maintain API automation frameworks for RESTful services.
- Create automated functional test scripts using tools such as Java, Karate, JMeter.
- Perform manual and exploratory testing as needed.
- Mentor and train test engineers (onshore/offshore) in automation best practices.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and business teams to resolve issues and align on requirements.
- Provide expertise in testing methodologies, standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Support full-stack and third-party integration testing.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8–10 years of experience in automation and software testing.
- Strong hands-on coding skills in Java (3–5 years) and BDD frameworks (Cucumber, JBehave).
- 8 years of automation framework design experience.
- 3–5 years testing REST APIs and building API automation frameworks.
- Strong SQL skills and ability to create/manage test data.
- 3 years performance testing with JMeter.
- Hands-on experience in AWS cloud environments.
- Experience in DevOps tools and practices: Jenkins, Git, CI/CD pipelines, TDD.
- Experience with microservices architecture, load testing, and system integration testing.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Must have worked in Agile teams (2 years).
Nice to Have:
- Apigee or other API gateway experience
- Python scripting
- End-to-end platform integration testing
