Research Assistant

Under the direction of the Director, Research Analysis, the Research Assistant, Worldwide Research will gather, clean, and check the accuracy of motion picture, television, and online streaming industry data from various sources. The data is used for analysis in reports that are released publicly or internally for executives within the MPA and at its member companies.   

Key Responsibilities 

• Conducting desk research using online and other sources to collect data pertaining to the motion picture, television, and online streaming industry.
• Initiating, tracking, and following up on data requests. 
• Evaluating received data against data specifications.
• Preparing data, including cleaning, maintaining, and updating database and spreadsheet files. 
• Assisting with documenting data gathering procedures, shared file cleanup and project archiving. 
• Proofing and assessing data for accuracy for use in key reports, presentations, and online resources, using established research team standards. 
• General proofreading. 

Education and Experience Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in an area relevant to analysis and quantitative research, such as economics, business, statistics, or other analytical discipline.
• Some demonstrated data collection skills and experience. 

Qualifications 

• Must possess the highest level of work ethic, accuracy, and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Proficiency with MS applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Experience with additional statistical programs is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills; Able to prioritize work load and manage multiple priorities in a timely, efficient and productive manner.
