Events & Donor Coordinator
Mother’s Refuge – Independence, MO

Mother’s Refuge is seeking a highly organized and relationship-driven Events & Donor Coordinator to help grow community support for our mission. This role leads fundraising events, coordinates donor engagement efforts, and supports campaigns that sustain and expand services for young mothers and their children.
The ideal candidate is energized by connecting with people, managing details, and sharing the mission of Mother’s Refuge with the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution
- Plan and coordinate fundraising and community events including annual galas, donor appreciation events, benefit dinners, and outreach events
- Manage event logistics such as venues, vendors, catering, registration, and materials
- Coordinate volunteers and internal teams to ensure successful event execution
- Assist with promotion of events through email, social media, and other communication channels
Fundraising Campaigns
- Help plan and execute fundraising campaigns including annual giving and special initiatives
- Assist with campaign messaging, communications, and promotional materials
- Track campaign progress and help evaluate results
Donor Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors
- Coordinate donor outreach including meetings, thank-you notes, and appreciation events
- Support donor stewardship efforts and help ensure donors feel informed and valued
- Maintain accurate donor records and follow-up activities in the organization’s database
Community Engagement
- Represent Mother’s Refuge at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities
- Speak at churches, community groups, and events to share about the mission and impact of Mother’s Refuge
- Build relationships with local businesses, community partners, and supporters
- Assist in identifying sponsorships and partnership opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit work, communications, marketing, event planning, or a related field, highly preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in event planning, fundraising, or donor relations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups and representing the organization publicly
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with donor databases or CRM systems
- Experience with large-scale events, non-profit galas preferred
- Familiarity with digital fundraising tools
Work Environment:
- Full-time position based in Independence, Missouri
- Some evening and weekend hours required for events or speaking engagements
- Occasional travel within the community

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
